After using the same primer for quite a few years I felt it was time to try a new one. I had been looking for a while but nothing was really jumping out at me until I came across the NYX counter in Boots and saw the NYX Professional Makeup Studio Perfect Primer. NYX has been on my list of makeup brands that I wanted to try but every time I go to their counters I either have no time to properly look or I get overwhelmed and end up leaving empty handed. However, this time I went straight to the ‘primer section’ and decided on this one.As soon as I tried it on my hand it just reminded me of velvet and made my skin feel so smooth. So that mixed with the product description.. ‘Prepare your canvas with our silky primer. The Studio Perfect Primer formula is easily absorbed creates a smooth surface for foundation and ensures the longevity of your makeup‘ I was like ‘yaasss’ this sounds like the perfect primer for me!!
There are three different shades of this primer each with there own benefits. Clear, to cover fine lines and large pores; Lavender, to brighten and illuminate yellow undertones; Green, to conceal redness. I went with the Clear shade as I am always looking to cover my pores. My foundation and concealer go on so smoothly after using this primer and last pretty much all day.Considering that this is the first NYX product I’ve tried I am very impressed and can’t wait to try more from the brand. If you are looking for a new primer then I honestly 100% recommend this one. Let me know if there are any NYX products that I need to try, I would appreciate your recommendations.
Hey lovelies! I hope you’ve had a good weekend! Todays is ‘all about that base’ with the Makeup Revolution Ultra Base Corrector Palette. I got this a while ago now because I kept seeing palettes like this all over other blogs and Instagram but they were always super expensive, so I went for a more affordable one and I really like using it! I obviously can’t compare it to the more expensive ones but this palette is definitely good for the price!
It comes in the above packaging. The actual palette packaging is really good quality and you get a nice big mirror the full size of the lid which is super handy for on the go! Over all I am really impressed with the packaging, especially for a drugstore product! The writing on the front has worn off a bit now but for the price you pay it really doesn’t matter!
You get 8 corrector shades in the palette that are all good for different things. From left to right, top row first and then the bottom row you have:
- Pink – Brightens
- Lavender – Neutralises yellow tones
- Green – Neutralises redness
- Orange – Neutralises blue tones
- Peach – Helps to balance slight discolouration
- White – Adds natural highlight and brightens
- Cream – Neutralises Purple and covers dark areas
- Brown – Balances ashiness in medium to dark skin tones
The colours I use the most are Pink, Green, White and Cream. I use Cream everyday under my eyes and on any blemishes as it’s good at concealing my dark circles. I use Pink under my eyes as well to brighten them up a bit. I use Green over my red blemishes and any other red discolouration. Finally when I am going for a more glowy look I use the White shade where the light hits naturally and then I will put my foundation over the top of them all. The only shade I haven’t used it Brown as I am basically Casper! They are all super creamy and blend really well on the skin. My foundation sits nicely on top of them and doesn’t look cakey. This palette is only £6.00 which is really affordable and good value as you get a lot for your money and they do actually work.
Overall I really recommend this as for £6.00 you can’t go wrong! It does what it it supposed to and that’s all you can ask for really! Let me know in the comments if you have tried this before and also if you have tried any other palettes like this!
I hope you enjoyed this post!
See you soon!
Hello lovelies! I thought I would show you what I have been doing for my everyday makeup, as I have been using pretty much all of the same products and the same eyeshadow for quite a while now. Let me know in the comments a few of your everyday fave products :)!
I start off with my moisturiser and skin reviver serum (I am going to do a full skin care routine when I am truly happy that everything is working for my skin) wait for those to dry, then I use my Body Shop InstaBlur Primer all over the face as another barrier and this also makes my face feel really smooth and ready to apply my foundation. I then apply my Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour Foundation, which is my fave drugstore foundation at the moment. Once that is looking good I move onto concealer. I use two different concealers because I find that works best for me. First I apply the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer under my eyes and then I use the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer under my eyes and over any blemishes. To set that all in place I use the Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder which I am also loving at the moment.
To make sure my eyeshadow stays in place all day I use my Revlon powder all over my eyes as this really works for me instead of a primer. The eyeshadow I have been loving at the moment is from the original Urban Decay Naked Palette and that is Sidecar, which is a gorgeous browny, beige shade and super shimmery – that’s probably why I love it! Then for my eyeliner I use the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner, just a thin line for during the day, and finally a couple of coats of the Clinique High Impact Mascara.
To finish off the whole look I use the Maybelline Master Sculpt Kit. I use the bronzer on my cheeks for some definition, on the sides of my forehead and along the top of my forehead, down my nose and then on my neck. I then use the highlighter on the tops of my cheek bones, down the centre of my nose and then my cupids bow. For blush I tend to switch this up a bit but recently I have been reaching for the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in the shade Lovely Pink. Finally I used the Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Pink Blossom.
So that is what I do for my everyday makeup look. I absolutely love the Sidecar eyeshadow and if I am going out anywhere in the evening it is easy to top up and do a smokey eye for a more dramatic look. I hope you enjoyed this post! Don’t forget to let me know some of your favourite everyday makeup products!
See you soon!
Hello lovelies! I hope you have had a good week! I am going to jump straight into todays post, which is all about the wonderful InstaBlur Primer from The Body Shop. I have had this for quite a while now but I think I was still super late in purchasing this. I always used to see it on Gabby’s (Velvet Gh0st) Youtube channel and kept meaning to buy it but I still had a lot of my Porefessional left, so I waited until that was nearly empty and then purchased it.
I tried this on the back of my hand in the shop before purchasing and it has such a weird consistency, but I really like it. It’s almost like a clear gel, you do have to be careful when you have it on your hand as it can fall off because of the gel like consistency, but once you have rubbed it in it makes your face feel so smooth and soft. There isn’t really a scent to it, maybe a slight fresh kind of scent (if that makes sense) but I can barely smell anything.
When I first tried this I could definitely tell the difference in my makeup, it stayed on for longer and it also went on a lot smoother and still does. My pores are less visible and any spots I have are smoothed out a bit. It says on the website that is controls shine for 12 hours, I’m not sure I 100% agree with this but I do get quite oily on my T-Zone anyway, so nothing a bit of powder can’t fix through out the day.
Overall I love this primer and will definitely continue to purchase this when I run out. The body shop always have deals on, either online or in store, so you never really have to pay full price, plus it’s only £14.00 anyway. Let me know if you have ever tried this primer!
See you soon!
Hello lovelies! I hope you are okay and had a brilliant Easter break with family, friends and chocolate ;)! I booked some time off work and went home for 6 days and I loved every second! Whilst I was home I did a bit of shopping and will be doing a haul very soon but for now I am going to tell you my thoughts on the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder! I bought this from Boots a while ago now on the 3 for 2 offer, which is still on now! I had intended to buy the One Heck Of A Blot Powder but because I was in a rush I picked this one up by mistake but I can tell you that I am not disappointed!
The packaging is plastic so it is nice and sturdy and it stands out with the big pink writing. When you open it up there is a nice big mirror which is perfect for keeping it in your handbag when you are on the go. Then, of course, there is the actual powder which looks so perfect and says ‘Instant Touch’. I didn’t want to use it at first because it looked so perfect!
I use this powder once I have applied all my foundation in the mornings as it sets it all in place and gives me a nice matte look but it still looks natural. This then lasts all morning and I apply more powder at lunch time, but I only need to apply more on my t-zone as I do get a bit oily there. Before I started using this powder I would always feel like I needed to apply powder a couple of times during the day where as now I only need to do it once which is so much easier!
Here is what Soap & Glory say –
With vision-boggling SUPERBLUR™ technology and CAMOUFLAWGE 3DTM– our amazing new powder immediately perfects your face. Skin looks impossibly smooth, feels velvety soft, and delivers real-time RETOUCHING. It’s weightless, totally translucent, and going to be your new favourite face powder.
Over all I am super pleased with this powder and will definitely be buying it again as I use it everyday without fail! Have you ever used this powder? What do you think of it?
I hope you enjoyed this post!
See you soon!
Hello lovelies! I hope you had a good weekend! I am doing a bit of a different post today because when it comes to foundations I think it can be a bit of a minefield! There are so many different brands to choose from, so many colours and then there is all the questions like whats the coverage like, how long does it last, is it better for oily skin, dry skin etc.. The list of questions goes on! So I have decided to do this post to not only help me decide which one to try next but also to help you guys just incase you are in a bit of a dilemma on which high street foundation to try next so you don’t end up spending a lot of money on something that’s not really that great.
So these are the four that I have chosen –
Have you used any of these foundations? Please share your comments below and we can all help each other to possibly find the best foundation for us!
I hope you liked this post and it has helped you in some way! Let me know if you like the idea of this post as well and I might do some more on different beauty products including drugstore products.
See you soon.
