NYX Professional Makeup Studio Perfect Primer!

After using the same primer for quite a few years I felt it was time to try a new one. I had been looking for a while but nothing was really jumping out at me until I came across the NYX counter in Boots and saw the NYX Professional Makeup Studio Perfect Primer. NYX has been on my list of makeup brands that I wanted to try but every time I go to their counters I either have no time to properly look or I get overwhelmed and end up leaving empty handed. However, this time I went straight to the ‘primer section’ and decided on this one.IMG_3333As soon as I tried it on my hand it just reminded me of velvet and made my skin feel so smooth. So that mixed with the product description.. ‘Prepare your canvas with our silky primer. The Studio Perfect Primer formula is easily absorbed creates a smooth surface for foundation and ensures the longevity of your makeup‘ I was like ‘yaasss’ this sounds like the perfect primer for me!!

There are three different shades of this primer each with there own benefits. Clear, to cover fine lines and large pores; Lavender, to brighten and illuminate yellow undertones; Green, to conceal redness. I went with the Clear shade as I am always looking to cover my pores. My foundation and concealer go on so smoothly after using this primer and last pretty much all day.IMG_3334Considering that this is the first NYX product I’ve tried I am very impressed and can’t wait to try more from the brand. If you are looking for a new primer then I honestly 100% recommend this one. Let me know if there are any NYX products that I need to try, I would appreciate your recommendations.

Product Empties!

Hey guys! I hope you are well and having a fab weekend! I have been busy packing as I am going to Amsterdam tomorrow and I am super excited! I’ve never been before and already have a long list of things I would like to do and see whilst I’m there. Let me know if you have been before and if there is anywhere or any food places that you would recommend. So lets get onto todays post and I thought that I would do a product empties as I have accumulated quite a few things and want to share my thoughts on the products and whether I would re-purchase them.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation – I love this foundation! Until a better one comes along I will use this everyday! It is on the more pricy side but I think its worth it, plus if you live near a designer outlet its £21 rather than £31! I have re-purchased this as I love it!

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic – I have had this bottle for ages! I thought it was never going to run out, which is a good thing! This is the first product that I use on a morning, it freshens my skin and helps prepare it before applying makeup. I really enjoy using this product and although I haven’t yet re-purchased it, I definitely intend to. Also, little tip with this, I buy the full size bottle but when I first decided to try it I bought the mini spray bottle and I just pour the toner from the big bottle into the spray one as I find it much easier and quicker on a morning!

The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Day Cream – This is the second product that I use on a morning and I love it! It’s such a light moisturiser which is why its a good base for makeup. It keeps my skin moisturised and because its part of the Aloe range it is really gentle on the skin. I have re-purchased this and will continue to.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream – The packaging has slightly changed on this now but it is still the same moisturiser. This is a much more thicker moisturiser but it sinks in beautifully and really helps put back any moisture thats lost through out the day into my face and leave it feeling really soft. I have also re-purchased this as I love using it on an evening before bed.

The Body Shop Instablur All In One Primer – I promise this isn’t sponsored by The Body Shop, I just love their products! I have used this primer for a long time now. It’s the third step in my morning skin care routine and it just finishes off my base perfectly. It blur out my pores and helps keep my makeup in one place. I have, of course, re-purchased this as it is the best primer I have found so far!

So thats all of the products that I have used up over the last few months! Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products.

I hope you enjoyed this post! See you soon.

Morning Skincare Routine

Hey guys! So I have finally decided to do a skincare routine for you as I really feel that my skin has benefitted from these products and they really help protect and keep my skin as clear as possible. I will be doing an evening routine as well at some point but for now lets get into what I do on a morning!

Morning Skincare Routine

Wash my hands & face

The very first thing I do is was my hands as there is no point in washing my face with dirty hands. I then wash my face using the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel. I have had this for a while now and it is so gentle on the skin yet really helps with any blemishes! I have sensitive skin but do suffer from spots so I need something that is gentle and none drying but then something that can fight away those spots and this does exactly that! I just use one pump and massage it onto my slightly wet skin, it foams up and feels so soothing. I then rinse it off using a muslin cloth and luke warm water. My skin always feels so clean and refreshed afterwards! I have noticed a real difference in the amount of blemishes I get as well. I was using The Body Shop Tea Tree face wash every other day as well, but they discontinued it and I have unfortunately run out. However, this Vichy face wash does a good job on its own!

Tone & Moisturise

Next up is toner, I use the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer. This is amazing and makes my skin feel so revitalised, it also wakes me up on a morning and I always need help with that! I spritz it 3 or 4 times over my whole face and just wait for it to sink in, which usually takes a couple of minutes. Once that has soaked in I move onto moisturiser. I use the Aloe Soothing Day Cream from The Body Shop. This is another one for sensitive skin as it’s really gentle and has no scent to it. I find this really soothing, as the name suggests but also it calms my skin. It’s a very thin moisturiser so it sinks in fast and a little goes a long way.

Prime and Makeup

Before doing my makeup I use The Body Shop Instablur Primer all over my face, focusing on my forehead and around my nose, as that creates an even smoother base and helps hide my pores. Once that has sunk in I then apply my makeup! If you would like to see what I tend to use on a day to day basis check out this Everyday Makeup post!

Protecting your skin

It is very important to protect your skin from the sun so on an everyday basis I just use my foundation as that has SPF 10 in, and lets face it the UK doesn’t exactly get that blazing sun you get abroad. But if I wasn’t going to wear makeup or I was on holiday where the weather is a lot hotter then I would use a suncream. At the moment the two I go for are from Avon one is factor 30 and one is factor 50, it all depends on how hot it is to which one I would use. These are really good though as they are specifically for your face so if you have sensitive skin like me then they shouldn’t irritate you. They are both water resistant and moisturising. The factor 50 is also anti ageing which I guess is a bonus, it’s best to start young! I think even if the weather isn’t great you should always wear some form of sun cream on your face whether its in a foundation like mine or actual suncream. You age a  lot faster if you don’t protect your skin and of course it helps prevent getting skin cancer!

Morning Routine - Sun Cream

That is everything I use on a morning, I am so glad I have finally found a set of products that agree with my skin and really help make my skin look its best! I am going to do my evening skin care routine very soon too! I use a few more products on an evening, especially when I do a face mask etc.. so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Let me know what products you use on a morning and how you keep your skin protected from the sun!

I hope you enjoyed this post, see you soon!

The Body Shop InstaBlur!

Hello lovelies! I hope you have had a good week! I am going to jump straight into todays post, which is all about the wonderful InstaBlur Primer from The Body Shop. I have had this for quite a while now but I think I was still super late in purchasing this. I always used to see it on Gabby’s (Velvet Gh0st) Youtube channel and kept meaning to buy it but I still had a lot of my Porefessional left, so I waited until that was nearly empty and then purchased it.

I tried this on the back of my hand in the shop before purchasing and it has such a weird consistency, but I really like it. It’s almost like a clear gel, you do have to be careful when you have it on your hand as it can fall off because of the gel like consistency, but once you have rubbed it in it makes your face feel so smooth and soft. There isn’t really a scent to it, maybe a slight fresh kind of scent (if that makes sense) but I can barely smell anything.

When I first tried this I could definitely tell the difference in my makeup, it stayed on for longer and it also went on a lot smoother and still does. My pores are less visible and any spots I have are smoothed out a bit. It says on the website that is controls shine for 12 hours, I’m not sure I 100% agree with this but I do get quite oily on my T-Zone anyway, so nothing a bit of powder can’t fix through out the day.

Overall I love this primer and will definitely continue to purchase this when I run out. The body shop always have deals on, either online or in store, so you never really have to pay full price, plus it’s only £14.00 anyway. Let me know if you have ever tried this primer!

See you soon!

Benefit’s The POREfessional!

Hello beauties! I am so excited about this post because I have been wanting to try this product for AGES and finally I got my hands on it! As you can see by the title it’s about Benefits POREfessional primer. According to their website it is the No1 selling primer in the Uk for the last 3 years and I can totally understand why!

I got this on Friday and have used it all weekend and I can see the difference straight away so I just had to share it with you guys immediately ;)! Before I had this (can’t believe it took me this long to get it) I used the Maybelline Baby Skin primer which is good and I will continue to use it on days where I’m not making as much of an effort but the POREfessional primer is just amazing. When it first comes out of the tube it is a nude colour and then when you apply it to your face and rub/pat it in it goes translucent and makes your skin feel so soft. It also smells really nice to its quite a perfumy smell at first but you can’t smell it once its on.

I used this on Saturday and then went shopping and I don’t know what the weather is like where you live but it has been mega windy in the UK and on Saturday it was windy, raining and it also hailed all while we were out shopping and when I got back home I expected my makeup to look terrible and to have worn off like it normally would but it still looked absolutely fine and like I had just finished it, my hair on the other hand looked like I had just woken up! I am so impressed with this primer because I had heard it was good but I didn’t quite realise it was that good – top marks to Benefit! This is also my first Benefit product and I will definitely be buying more from them – I really want to try their mascara and their Rockateur blush as they look really good too! Have you tried any of these products if so then please let me know what you think? 🙂

You can apply this under your makeup but also during the day over your makeup if your pores are starting to re-surface again. I haven’t had to do this yet but I will be carrying it around with me just in case! The packaging is also really pretty which is another thumbs up from me! I am a sucker for nice packaging.

What Benefit say –

‘Quickly minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.’

To sum this post up I 110% recommend this primer to anyone. If you have been thinking about buying this then you definitely should! I waited far too long and can’t believe I hadn’t bought it sooner. I know it is quite pricy at £24.50 but its worth the money and I can see this lasting such a long time because you don’t need to use a lot.

Have you used this primer before? What do you think about it?

See you soon!
